Dan S. Joy : If the issue is so important to you ... would you rather a fun, informative, lighthearted video, or none at all?
I thought this was great stuff. Fingers crossed for a win!
Ned Perry Awesome flick! Definitely the most original video I saw in the contest. That looks like an awesome good time, and not only is it fun but you are reducing the waste of our economy which is very important in this day and age. You inspire me to bust out the old headlamp and go poke around in the dreary dark dredges/gold mines of our societies trash. five stars all the way, and if you do not win you still get a ton of tasty veggies and a smoothie the rest of us can only dream about!
joy Petzl user, google for it and you will find it, it is not hard. Food waste is serios problem, but guys take it like a joke. Look how they are smiling and jumping in garbage. When I was in USA I saw a lot of people looking for food in garbage and they were not whit a smile on theirs faces.
langur that was very heartwarming
doog like it. different from the rest!
smarts again, sorry. i don't want to fight.
Congrats on an awesome video media feliz!!!
smarts sorry. dumb joke. i know and everyone else who does/doesn't work in produce knows produce goes bad. i work on a farm after all. but i and others i know eat dumpster food and are fit as fiddles!! (and are not as you would say "retarded") awwww smack
media feliz concerning april's comments:
my motivation for this contest was tell a story about real people I know. from the earlier videos, I did not see any character development or even really any dialogue at all, and I felt that could be something unique I could add to the mix. there is some political/conservationism in the video because these are things we believe in and are passionate about, but that isn't a trick card I'm playing. if there is any take home point from the video i wanted to convey, i wanted to show our close group of friends having a good time exploring and discovering together, which is what we love to do.
also as far as having my friends pose as random viewers: i know some of the commenters, and don't know others, but i havn't asked anybody to do anything other than vote. i think the response is awesome, and shows that I have a great group of friends.
GooooooOOOOOOOO BUCKS!
oops, looks like you posted again. i’ll leave that response to somebody else. thanks anyway for commenting.
April “…everyone knows that produce never rots.” I’m not sure of a social circle where everybody knows that produce doesn’t rot. Apparently everybody knows this but the USDA. The very definition of the word means the decomposition from bacteria or fungi. How do you explain mold or decay? I will agree that “grocery store expired” doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s bad. The very nature of the “evil” capitalistic system ensures that the expired food isn’t wasted. It is always sold for profit, rather than being discarded. There’s not near the amount of waste as you think there would be. The fruit that is safe is destined to end up being canned, juiced, or in a fruit cocktail. The stuff that is at risk of bacterial infection ends up in the dumpster… enjoy your salmonella.
Wednesday April, money has nothing to do with it! Sure, these guys can afford a trip to the supermarket, but that's not the point!!! The point is to shed light on the waste that takes place everyday in our stores (and you should know about such waste if you work in the produce industry)...and to show how these fellows have found a way to entertain themselves while in the city. (Plus the food they collected wasn't even rotten) Too bad you have to express yourself with such anger...hard to take you seriously!
smarts Produce can go bad?!?!?! Good argument April, but everyone knows that produce never rots. ridiculous. Grocery store expired(bad) or not, these guys just don't want to waste it, whether they (or other dumpster divers) have money to buy food or not. Maybe they're not prudes who can handle a little disgust and fun in life.
April This video is retarded. Nice try though. If they can afford a vehicle and an apartment in the city, why can they not afford to go to the market? Rummaging through the trash for rotten food is disgusting. It’s obvious that you’re going for a “conservationist” approach, but it comes across as too contrived. Having your friends pose as random viewers who have been shown the error of their ways by your “thought provocative” video was a nice touch.
PS. As some who works in the produce industry, I assure you that produce can go bad.
bananas Superb! simple, smart and delicious!
the-misses ok, for real. i've watched all of these videos. if this one does not win i will lose faith in petzl and so much more. these guys are soooo HOT!!!
Rusty Griswald Monsieur Ent, and chef Paul's antics can't help but catapult them into the stratosphere of other well know budget gourmets. This short showcases fear factor style freeganism at it's pinnacle and creates a riveting narrative that begs it's viewer to reconsider what is placed on their table, and ponder what qualifies as adventurous. I've found it necessity to revisit and ponder the truths told by Media Feliz, and though I've had the luxury of an entire chair for every viewing, I've only had need of the edge. 5 Stars!
media feliz merci and thanks for all the comments and ratings! good luck to all who entered and worked hard on their videos!
alfie I use the headlamp for many, many things where I need both hands free...the traditional hiking, reading in tent, caving etc..but many not so traditional uses..fixing car, bow hunting, wild sex in dark, etc. Great idea to show dumpster diving..I'll have to add it to the list.
Bonne chance a toi, Media Feliz!
woodrow In my humble opinion this video stands out above all the rest. Media Feliz raised the bar by not stooping into the typical shredder mentality. This video captures the beauty of adventure and exploration. I like it because it shows how you can have fun just about anywhere. To often, in this day and age we feel like we need to have 5:12 statistics, Iconic sponsorship, or eminent possibility of death to be having an adventure. In two minutes this video shows you that all you need is just some creativity and desire. Five Stars!
ruben I cannot believe that you found all that food in dumpsters! That is amazing. What a great use for a headlamp. I can't wait to see what is behind my local market tonight. Are some stores better than others? (by Better, I mean do they waste more) Nice video, Inspirational!
nat Waste bothers me. This is definitely a way to cut down on the waste that occurs on a daily basis. I'm a proponent of this type of foraging, however I worry that not everyone is fit enough to get into the dumpsters that really need the food. Also, I would like to see another clip giving suggestions and times of where to hit the right dumpsters. For example, outside of Whole Foods at midnight... Nice work videographers!
Petzl user Hey Joy, Where have you seen this story before? Just curious because I am interested in it, and also wondered if you are legit or a basher.
jackyball Makes me hungry...
Happy Pappy What a nut! OMG! And I googled Media Feliz and found some sweet rafting videos on youtube. Radical!
FloridaFan I have never used petzl gear before, but I stumbled on this video and I love it!! I going to go check out those headlamps right now...
Petzlnut I really liked this video, the story was unique, and I really hope that Petzl doesn't not choose it just because it isn't all about hardcore outdoors.
joy Not very creative, already seen story. But good anyway.
AeroNautiCal These guy's 'Headlight' the serious issue of food waste in a concise, compelling, yet entertaining way.
Petzl should be proud to see their products put to serious social use, as well as for the more traditional outdoor activities.
For guy's involved in traditional and serious, social, healthy outdoor pursuits, I'd say that their judgement in food choice, nutrition and preparation is spot on!
hikernut Excellent storyline for such a short flick - very thought provoking!
Petzl user nice to see a movie that tells an actual story. how is your immune system?
Paulblo This is definitely the most interesting video on the site, using the headlamp for something useful, and exposing something ugly about the american grocery mentality, what waste. Why is this voted so low? Because it seems disgusting to some people? It was nice to see something more creative than just another rock climbing/outdoor adventure set of clips. Bravo to this brave fellow.
b.spoon not only did those boys score some delicious eats, but this unconventional form of hunting/gathering probably is making doing WONDERS for their immune systems, making them invincible against man-killing bacterias.
this video was sexy, smart, educational, eye-opening...and did i mention sexy? i'd try dumpster diving with that wild man Paul any day!
media feliz So Doml here says he lost his appetite partway through. Is there dumpster diving in Europe? In the US, top quality, delicious, perfectly normal and untainted food is thrown out all the time. Dumpster diving is a great way to cut down on waste, save money, and have fun. No need to be grossed out; we have never gotten sick or come across anything remotely threatening in any of the dumpsters we have dived on (mostly organic/health food grocery stores).
Domi Ça démarrait bien, mais la suite coupe un peu l'appétit. Si vous gagnez, pensez à demander au moins une paire de gants. Bonne chance.
